thehoe92
I heard putting corrupt hard drives in the freezer for a while might help. Then after plug it in and access it through safe mode. but like everyone has said there are tons of programs that can help restore files. lol pretty ironic since I just asked if you could chop and screw rockaway. I know how it feels brotha it sucks to lose everything especially music. Wouldnt be thehoe92 without teh purple

thehoe92
I hope he doesn't mean actually putting the harddrive into the freezer in your refrigerator or am I missing something? yeah you chill it out for a while and it is suppossed to give you an opening in time to regain the information on the hard drive.my dad is a tech guy and did it on our like 10 year old dell and got a lot of the information he needed off of it. back up hard drives FTMFW! I don't do anything anymore without backing it up. especially since I work with HD movies and I edit and make music. I had a harddrive that I'm pretty sure some sectors were messed up and had problems right from the install. That freezer thing really really doesn't make sense to me lol no offense man, but if it works, it works. I would just use a live cd and open up the harddrive through there, such as linux ubuntu, then back it up to another device. You could do a live boot of windows xp also. That virus sounds more of a prank than an actual virus. When she saw that did she immediately take it in or did it mess your harddrive up? 2002 ford explorer 200 amp rewound alt single 18" Fi btl fully loaded 2 1750's 2 c&d tech 88amp/hr batts 2 ought wiring cdt component set up front, cdt coaxials in back Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X693

It's been running slow the past week because we don't physically clean it as often as we should so the CPU was getting over worked a lot.I told her to just get it cleaned like we did last time and it solved the issue then, but that's not all she did. I was not home when this happened, or we wouldn't be having this discussion. BigPimpin91's Banging Music

raytard
moral of the story, never go to geek squad theyre fucking useless and do grimey stuff like charge 120$ to install ram...which literally takes 12 seconds flat or charge 180 to run a bootdisk (i think its 300+ for vista) but yo, go to sams club or BJ's or whatever you have by you and get a western digital external hdd, i got a 500gig one for 140 bux like 2 years ago, so tis probably dirt cheap now, and just back up all your stuff, it even has a utility to automatically do it every night. if you want to recover it, and it has a virus, def dont just hook it to your computer, or theres a decent chance itll spread. download knoppix or ubuntu, make a bootable flash drive, unhook your hdd's, hook in the virus'd one, and boot off of USB. see if you can mount/explore it and attempt to recover files, if so, attatch a bigass usb drive (or ipod or whatever you have available...like i said i keep that 500gig WD one handy) and start saving files. I just put Ubuntu on my lappy again and i love it, and it boots off an SD card...its pretty easy to do. PM me if you need links to ubuntu or the program to make the usb drive a boot drive.
