Spare Tire Well , First Time Question

"sanding the wax off" between layers is a waste of time IMO.

I have known about the wax in some resins...even some that I use...and never bothered with sanding anything that didn't need it for aesthetic reasons or to smooth out airflow over a surface...and never had an issue with it.

Roughin it up wouldn't hurt and should help with adhesion between layers but seriously In a spare tire well it has the spare tire well for support along the outer/bottom surface so it doesn't even really make that much diff if the layers are perfect or not. Just build it strong, and "clean it up" where folks will see, but don't kill your back bending over the trunk to sand something that really aint gonna make a lick of diff when it's all said & done...maybe some OCD/GP2k2 peace of mind knowing it's "perfect" between layers....But I would just throw a few more layers over it and make sure it's plenty strong. Thats what'll really matter.

if you taped the tub and glassed over the tape once the first coat is hardened you should be able to take it out and work with it outside of the car so you dont have to hurt your back any more

the wax is in the resin, not just the top of the layer. if you work with a bonding resin you will find out it is almost impossible to sand the sandpaper will stick to the resin instead of straching the surface when sanding a resin with wax in it

I'll be damned, I'd never knew that/ or ever had that happen. Eh, eitherway, the way I work with glass is tried and true, so I'll stick to it. :)

thanks again guys , i pulled the tub and it seems fine (actually looks good lol.) just going to start laying on some mat and make it nice and strong and than back in the trunk we go . i just want to say thanks to every one who gave advice it is very appreciated .
