First Time Doing A Pilars

hey everybody this is my first time doing A pilars and i made them for my 98 bonniville. i have openings for 5.25s in the front doors but wanted to get a lil more mids and highs up front. i will be putting MB Quart 3.5s in the openings for the time being but i made the circles just big enough for some 4" infinitys that i will most likey pick up at a later time. like i said this is my first time doing this and if anybody has any advice its more than welcomed.

just starting and only had a jigsaw to cut with ha fun

i used an old white tee to wrap it with cuz where the A pilar fits by the dash its kinda tight and fleece would of been too thick IMO

got both wrapped

finally got the first coat of resin and let it sit in the sun

popped em in for a quick test fit and fits no prob

from the outside, and at this time i had already started glassing the insides... #2 pencils are your friend when the opening is that small lol

and one more pic from driver side to try and show why i did the angle i did, the dash sticks out there and the angle of the A pilars are knida dif in a bonni so not many options

started on the fun of body filler and sanding. just a few pics so it means something BTW i did 2 layers of mat on the insides and left a lil pool on the bottom parts just incase i need to trim a lil exter out for better fit later

decided to give the lil 3.5s a test fit. lol lil babys

they are still in the works. i am still in the middle of sanding but been busy with the kids i still need to figure a way to cover them. i was thinkin about some kind of grey wrinklr paint ive seen someplace, get it in grey to match the interior. hopefully when these are done ill be able to get my 15 DC lvl 3 and make a lil biuld on it too,3cu ported,sealed from the trunk to the back seat be easy everybody

looks good man, might try this with my mtx 3&1/2s i got, n just run em from hu, did u just put resen down for ur cloth to stick or ca glue?

Pretty nice. Whyd you do a pillar mounts for 5.25s. Id of put a component set up top if I was gonna go through all that trouble. None the less it looks good. Lets see it covered man.

ha i used super glue to stick the cloth on the plastic and i only made em big enough for 4" at biggest but i have openings for 5.25s in the doors, stock but they will fit components in the doors too cuz of the lil tweet spot. it eas kinda funny cuz i just has the idea of wanting to try this and just went to work lol. aint nothin to it but to do it

thanks for the positive input. was kinda nervous it was gonna be worse lol. in a couple pics the circles do look a lil uncircular lol but they are better now that i sanded them more. it was more the edge that was off a lil.

does anybody know of a spray paint that would be good to color match the grey interior of mine? some kind of textured or wrinkle paint? im just gettin close to that point and dont know what to use yet. im just lookin to get as close as i can for cheapest. thanks

looks good man. if i were you i woult cover them in grey grille cloth. ive done a few of them that way and they look really nic and stock. that way you wont have to worry about sanding the body filler as as well as cracking and getting chipped etc.
