Chode69 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Share Posted February 26, 2007 I just wanna know why hes so stuck on Type Rs...i will admit they are pretty good subs and for the price its even better. Newer isnt always an upgrade either. heres an example of RF. RF had the paper cone punches. well going from the 2002 paper cone Punch HE2 to the 2003 plastic cone Punch HE2 me and MANY other people would agree that, that would be a horrible "upgrade" in your perspective just because its the newer line. Im not saying this is in ALL applications neither in this one either but im saying newer isnt always better. Also im not trying to start a war or anything i just wanna know why he is so in love with the Type R...if there is something im missing to have a stronger like for them. I would take old school RF subs over new ones for sure. Just my personall preference. HOWEVER, I didn't say NEWER is ALWAYS better, but it CAN be. In the Kicker example, go newer, in the Type R example, Newer again, and in the RF example I'm torn in that I havn't personally played with the entire new lineup of RF subs, but from what I've seen/heard I'd go old school on RF subs. It will always depend on the trend of a speciific company whether their subs are better one year to the next. Generally once they have their reputation built up for having the best subs out and can sell them on name brand alone, they start pulling funding and dumping it into the R&D of their amps so they can start saying best subs AND amps. That happens a lot along with the occasional "all out bad idea/flop" (also known as sony explode). RF is one of the only brands (except cheap chinese crap) that seems as far as sub wise, they go more for looks instead of performance. Even though those old HX2's & stuff was killin in that apperance aspect too.
