newls1 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 As some of you might know, I purchased a dual alt kit over the last week and a half, just got around to installing it yesterday, and today. I was wondering to myself, "I want to check to make sure the second alt is putting out power, but that is not as easy being that both alts are tied into my battery bank." I thought to myself, "Let me just disconnect to battery cable off the back of the alt, and see if it is putting out voltage." So I shut the truck off, remove B+ cable from behind the alt, and start the truck back up. Low and behold, it is only getting 1.72v. Well being that EVERYTHING is computer controlled, let me call up Rob and see what he can explain to me. All I can say is HOLY SHIT was I wrong! Rob, took well over 20minutes with me on the phone, AND STAYED ON THE PHONE THE WHOLE TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT IM DOING IT RIGHT, and he explained how to excite the alternator without any of the regulator plugs in either alt. So I took my test light, and my voltmeter and jumped what he explained 100% to me, and bam!, I got voltage, and now I feel better knowing that both alts work 100%. Rob, you are BY FAR---FAR FAR FAR FAR an awesome person, A++++++ customer service, and extremely patient person. I love your company, and only wish I had money to be able to afford some higher output alts, but when I do have some funds, you know where im going to spend them at,.........DC POWER, BABY! Seth..... I might just flip a coin between mechman and dc power when the time comes since both are good.
