NO one ever sits in mine either but I refuse to "punk out" and give em up..especially when at any given time the hatch is full to the brim, so if you wanna put ANYTHING...anywhere...them back seats gonna come in handy. Nicely creative lookin build so far. Keep them pix comin, I'm interested to see how this turns out. Hatch FTW. fast85_gt Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 i still have my back seats enough to fit 2 plp uncomeful but they still fit but even with this build with batts and amp rack he is still going to loose some more back seat area just my 2 cents but i love the box cant wait to get a few pointers on the build

Like I think ive mentioned, I may not be leaving in these seats as they are now, but ill have something that will allow someone to sit back there without sitting on the subs. If you want a hint on what ill be doing for that, feel free to look it up. I believe it is titled something like fiberglass amp "rack" or something similar. I let it die after I decided I wanted to something a little different though. rusty959 Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Well, I hate to make two posts in a row on the same topic, but my camera isn't wanting to connect so I can't get pics off of it, and I don't feel like messing with it tonight. Anyways, Yesterday/last night I got the box modified to fit and basically finished up. I ended up just grinding the corners down enough for it to close. Ill get some pics up tomorrow of it. The area is decently thin, though not too bad, so ill probably end up grinding it down further and glassing the area, including the port seam since it wasn't all that good of a joint. After that all I believe I need to do is add some more bracing. and the box itself will be done. That being said, I went ahead and threw the subs in and hooked it up last night. Now I still have a weak electrical, so I couldn't go all out, and had to keep an eye on the voltage. That being said it hits pretty nicely. Im only running on one battery up front since I figured out I don't have the right bolts for the yellowtop, and im always out working etc till after everywhere closes. Luckily tomorrow I don't work, so Ill be getting things closer to being up to par. Well, I finally got a break to put up these pics, so enjoy I guess... lol here was my solution: As I said, I will end up glassing over all of that, including the seam between boards when I can get some time. lols @ the gf riding on my mom's motorized wheelchair... But yea, subs are in etc, and it is playing. I also got the optima put in, and I am quite impressed with it. With just that one extra battery I stay in the 12's at full tilt with pretty bad electrical otherwise. The rest will get upgraded probably in the summer, as I can't not have my car at the moment to do a dual alt set up etc, plus I just don't have the time. That all being said, im already considering re-building... I have almost two sheets of mdf in the car right now and it is destroying my car's performance, mainly in the braking area, a lot more than I expected. Im thinking of maybe rebuilding with birch and glassing the spare tire well so it will be lighter and I can have the face a couple inches further back... I need to decide before I start on the FB trim pannels/amp racks...
