Btl Vs Hcca

example 1 18" will be 9 X 9 = 81 so then for 81 X 3.14 = 254.34

For the most part. but thats just a general idea of cone area.

When you start compairing fat rolled surrounds next to something like DDs EROM or other companies that run a taller narrow surround they are going to have more cone area. Also the Cones "pitch" has to do with it too.

So I wouldnt worry about the last .XX unless your doing the correct forumla for cone area. But generally 2.5 12s would equal 1 18.

Id say go with the two 12 hcca's if they are the newer models (2008, or the slightly redesigned 2009).

Most likely the 2 12s will take more power then the single 18. So that will really make up for cone area.

The 2 12s will have more applications for installation, and maybe easier too fit 2 12s in a trunk then 1 18 in its proper airspace needed depending on what you drive.

The HCCAs run a 4 inch coil unlike fi's 3inch ( tho a 4 inch coil is not really needed and just makes a heavier moving mass).

Ive only messed with a hand full of hcca's ( a 2 15s for one person, 2 12s for another, and then a single 12 setup) We never seen them come back to the shop for "reliability" issues like someone else said.

And not to mention the HCCAs are user friendly if you need to recone the speaker. I think recones are around $80!! and the recone kit comes with these long metal shims for proper alignment. Youd really have to be a noob to mess up one of the hcca recones!

well thanks to all, i think the 18 would be the best, becuase not long from now ill problably end up getting another 18. ill have to think over night but thanks again to all. props to Bangin Caddy cause that made me think a lil more about those hcca and not just give them up

Affiliated or not this forum is based on knowledge . Sure steve runs fi's in the truck but look at the civic . I never knew about fi until this site and i made my first purchase based on this site and the extensive amount of info now i am fi all the way due to the fact on how the subs are build and the over-all performance ... Trust me i have tried them all orion, kicker , mmats , re , ppi , .....ect

I think these questions depend on the price and preference. The HCCA has some crazy low end with INSANE EXCURSION something the BTL doesn't really have. (which is why I don't own one) But, as far as louder, the BTL will probabaly be louder from 35-65hertz(how much louder depends on tuning), but I bet I could get louder lower frequencies out of the HCCA's. It really up to you and the price. I would do the HCCA's but thats because I like to be unique. I'm not one to run with the crowd and BTLs are everywhere!!!!

the BTL doesnt have crazy low end? thats a retarded statement. They do it just depends on your install, much like ALL subs. I can go to the DEPTHS of hell with the Hoopty.......all BTL's. I can go to the depths of hell with my honda which has RE MT's - a direct swap with BTL's would yield almost exactly the same results but sound better (and be more reliable) doing it. Not because of the name brand, but because of the box and the way its tuned.

You run HCCA because you want to be unique and you dont "run with the crowd"? sorry to tell you, young buck, but Orion has been around a lot longer then Fi and millions more people run orion then Fi - so yes you are for sure "running with the crowd"....

please tell me your not serious...they dont compare ANY subs that are similiar...they compare a SPL oriented sub vs a daily driving sub. W7 T1s...are you serious...put it against a DD Z1 or a 95 series...DC level 5, FI BTL and so on...they wont last vs any of those
