dmanson Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 I have a Kinetik 2000 up front and an 800 in the back ......... i always hear folks saying to put the bigger battery in the back. So should i switch the 800 to the front and the 2000 to the back? Im not sure on how much of a difference it would make since i already have a good HO alternator with the MLA module and i have no dimming of the headlights. So would the switch matter? 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative. (2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear) Audiocontrol 3.1. DC power 260amp alternator w/MLA Module

MECHMAN Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 As long as you have good sized cabling and an excellent ground between batteries, you will not notice a difference in battery location. They are just paralleled together anyway, so when starting the vehicle you have the benifit of both batteries. It doesn't matter where they are mounted. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]

They would charge and discharge up all at different rates. Connections are important but right there after it is location

They would charge and discharge up all at different rates. Connections are important but right there after it is location It matters in street classes because competitors are chasing after every tenth of a db they can get. If you can gain .1db by having the bigger battery closer to the amp for a 2 second burp, then that is what they will do. For daily driving, listening to music, the resistence will balance out and you will likely see no difference in the location as long as you have enough cable to carry the current without any voltage drop accross the cable. In this situation, if there are currently no problems with the system, I would leave well enough alone... XS POWER Batteries, Chargers & Accessories 888-4XS-POWER

Wouldn't it balance out inbetween the parts of the songs where they aren't in needed as much where they would get a charge but under load where they are needed get used differently? 2 different sized batteries in 2 different loctactions would increase the differences in the batteries some wouldn't it?
dmanson Posted May 13, 2009 Author Report Posted May 13, 2009 I guess I will leave it how it is but once i go with a bigger amp in the future i'll step the 800 up. thanks for the knowledge guys .......... and yeh i'm running 1/0. 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.
