i have never tried plastic but i got mdf down good. i used the glue in a can. being that i have no access to a compressor. but spray on a thick layer let it tack up, stretch the the material over and rub out wrinkles. i havent had any problems yet.

i never tried it because i was worried about mistakes, when i did mine i didnt think about it. i just went at it and all came out well :D having a friend on the other side helped well to. :)

on loganberrys amp rack thingy, i made the outside(visible part) look nice then on the inner part that nobody sees, i made the seams meet in the middle where it wasnt visible. on my box we put side caps i guess u would call them. thin wood wrapped in material then nailed them to the box

contact cement is best for this. spray it on both surfaces, the material and the peice your wrapping. wait for it to get tacky then apply it.

Yep.

Although I've never done anything large enough to where I needed to pull out a spray gun, you shouldn't need one if you're doing something small.

The spray glue that vex was talking about would be very good for the surfaces as it doesn't build up as thick and you won't have to worry about the material being uneven.

Then I would use the contact cement around the edges and wrap around the back just to be safe.

You need me to take a look at this as well? ;)

sorry to thread jack but this would still go for doing suede right?

back to the op...

I used some crap for hardwood flooring thats similar to contact cement for my box which is in my build and it turned out really nice.

just make sure you get it the first time so you aren't pulling it off and trying it over. and careful because even if you don't mean to it gets on everything.

post some pics of the process for your build :)
