Fiberglass Question!?

Recommended Posts

makes the box stronger :duh:

Its also easier to smooth the outside of the box if you line the inside instead of the out;)

Some people need a sympathetic pat... on the head...with my hammer

I think he meant on an MDF box, not a full on fiberglass one.

And yea, stronger.

A couple links to some box builds:

Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI,

Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150

My own car builds (current setup --- under construction):

Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors

Subwoofer Wall

it will change the tune alil bit because of the resin is harder then the mdf the sound bounces off of it more.

if you glass the inside of a mdf box its all about strength, or helping airflow like meades resin trick.

just as David, Sean stated it does strenghtens the box it also provides a better seal and the smoother the resin is the better the redirect of the sound off the walls will be = higher DBs.

I'm currently working on an enclosure that will have a half circle shape on the inside my attempt is to redirect the sound waves to the port with a limited amount of DB lose. fingers crossed.
