Dreadnoughty Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 Hey People! I'm currently saving to build an L-ported box with two FI - BTL 18". I'm using this calculator for my design: http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html If you punch these numbers in the calc its gonna be tuned to about 32 hz. I don't know if i'm supposed to tune higher, but I'll keep it close to 32. Height: 24" Width: 44 Depth: 20 Square port with: 5" Square port length: 3" Wood thickness: 0.75" I only need to find an amp for my sub, but i haven't got any idea of what kind i need, but i have considered the Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bd. but i dont know if that is enough or too much power. I'm prepared to spend about $1000, my limit is $1200, because i gonna be speding about 1000 on the woofers alone. Also i live in Denmark so my english may suck a bit, because i'm only 16 y.o. Im gonna use the sub to assist my two speakers with 15 mid & bass and high & mid horn, till i get myself a car. Please can anyone recommend an amp for me ? - Dreadnoughty Ps. This is my first time building, so bear with me. (:

Basshead08 Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but that port seems way too small! I agree with the aq and audiopipe suggestions but if you are on a budget why not go with a lower rms sub that way power is cheaper? System tear out has begun...Out with the old i have a iq of 128 i graduated at the top of my class tell me how im reatrded you are the 1 thats dumb as hell you can't even spell Look at the underlined text hahahahahahahaha I think of it as the virgin losing the virginity technique not just jumping in to it, and pounding away, but going at it slowly over time, to get to that full extreme

Guest Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 the biggest box i could fit with the height: 24" width: 44" depth: 20" and the correct size port tuned to 32hz is 8.5cuft. thats enough for 2 15" btl's, but no way in hell is it gonna do good for 2 18's. 1 18 will work perfect.

Dreadnoughty Posted June 16, 2009 Author Report Posted June 16, 2009 Thanks for all the replies (: !! So Would you recommend me getting 2 15", one 18" or 2 18"?, if so I'm gonna resize the box to about 14 cuft. If i'm gonna resize its going to be like this. http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html Height: 26" Width: 50" Depth: 30" Square port with: 11" Square port length: 3" 13.5 Cuft. Still tuned to 32 hz. Will that be enough? I have run into another problem. Do i need a car battery to power my speakers or can i do it another way?
