Decaf Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 use allthread for bracing and small 45s to keep volume up [email protected] [email protected] just to give you an idea of where you should be... let me know how big you want to go, 8-8.5cuft max per sub but at least 7cuft min... as you go up in volume you likely can raise tuning a wee bit and save some space at the same time but if you will be adding more power later you might want to stay closer to 7

Let me know what you think I should do, and how do I go about getting a cut sheet for this? Will that "PRINT" button using this program do something like that, or will it just print what I see on the screen? Fuck it, I dont know why I even asked, i'm going to go try it now. Thank you for all your assistance. **EDIT** is the reason why you increased sub displacement is to compensate for internal bracing? I'll be your bestest friend in the whole world!yeah if u are going with more power stick around 7, the fs is low enough u shouldnt miss much low endand yes, ur box will be big but uve got a 14sqin/cuft port + bracing and 1cuft of sub alone... add 45s and u need a big box! let me know what bracing ur using, how many baffles, and final desired tuning and i can finalize the sketchup w/cut sheet that makes the box a bit stronger and easier to put together, but harder to cut the pieces... so let me know hell you could even do a slot port along the entire bottom of the box without getting port noise.... might gain some efficiency there too port would be 46.5" X 9" if ud rather do that than the port u have designed now

If you click on it you can see that the tuning is lower then when you don't click on it. its not a slot port yet, currently he wanted a rectangular port, originally 11*30the only type of slot port he could do is along the bottom, which might be the best option it increases bracing and allows you to include end correction factor so the box will be tuned a bit lower than the actual length
newls1 Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Decaf....... I will use some 2x4's for some bracing, and a bunch of all thread (1/2inch thread) that I have laying around. The 2x4's will go across the top of the box to give me some strength for the top boards (2 baffles) and some all thread going thru the box for strength as well. I must be real honest with you, I CANT CUT WOOD TO SAVE MY LIFE. So If we can keep the cuts as simple as possible the better! If that means staying with a regular port, then be it. I've never done a slot port, but just like everyone else, I want to loudest I can possible get. I will be fiberglassing the inside of the box too. I guess staying with 32Hz is good, do you think I should go lower? It's in your hands now Decaf....I trust ya! Thanks again for everything. I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny

What I think a baffle is, is just a second copy of the "top" board right? If so, Im just going to double up on the top board right?. I really dont want to go higher then 24 if I dont have to. 25 and up, the box will be in my rear view mirror. Not a big deal by any means, but I just hate the way it looks.
