newls1 Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 well if you cant weld... then make sure the allthread barely touches and just fiberglass the joints just make sure you fiberglass everything, and do little resin 45s, maybe and inch or two it would really help if you can round over all the wood involved in the port too you never mentioned sub placement, are they ok where they are at? if so im gonna run my numbers and give you a final volume and tuning it is a big port, basically each sub gets 1 port section if you want to think of it that way, and each is 100sqin... so 100sqin/7cuft = 14.2sqin/cuft it should be very loud and sexi with a plexi window on the back side, im assuming, facing the passangers.... get it etched or throw a sticker on the inside, a few LEDs behind the plexi and youve got one desirable looking box/setup everything looks perfect, so if you want....RUN WITH IT MAN! Decaf Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 ok sooooo using allthread 29.77cuft 31.43hz using all 2x4s (which im going to suggest since u cant weld and it takes up more volume/might be stronger and easier) 28.66cuft 32.04hz so i think im going to have to redo the sketchup to use 2x4 bracing instead... it will simplfy everything for ya... and you can glue and screw easily vs cutting metal, nuts and washers and extra fiberglassin when do you need a cut sheet by? edit* and if you use 2x4 bracing you can use 1 less port divider which gives you more port surface area and less friction, both will be a plus
newls1 Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 no rush what so ever. I cant buy the BTL's until the next month or 2. In other words I have plenty of time sir. Thank you again, and yes, the 2x4 bracing will be MUCH better for me. I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
Decaf Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 alright, heres ur tank of a box, heavily reinforced for destruction by using so many intersections and joints the box is gonna be strong, and very heavy there are many http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif 's to come your way soon
AI James Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 whats his new specs with all that 2x4 as its not gonna be close to what it was with the all thread.
newls1 Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 I just for the first time went out and measured what 60" is actually going to consume, and HOLY CRAP! That is going to be fun as hell, I cant wait. I guess my tahoe will only be a 2 seat truck now. I dont give a damn, BASS HAS MORE PRIORITY then passengers IMO anyways. I'll have 7" behind the 2 front seats and thats it LOL! Enough room to slide in my amps, and i'll put the batts in the rear on a custom made "shelf" so it wont interfere with the 400SQin port LMFAO! Decaf.....If I had a dollar to my name I would be giving it to you for all your hard work brotha, I'll Paypal you later on once I can land my EMT job. Any chance when you have some spare time, you can hook me up with a cut sheet? I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
newls1 Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 Never got my tahoe metered with the 2 18" BL's on ~1200rms each, but with this new BTL setup, and 8000RMS what do you think I might be able to get out of this.......145dB, 147dB??? But either way, I hope there will be a nice difference. I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
Decaf Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 1.59cuft - 2x4 disp ~.41cuft - resin+mat+small 45s _____________ 2cuft + 1.04cuft sub disp so 28.73cuft 31.79hz im assuming some rounding of the port(s) will occur which will raise the tuning right up to 32hz with the box only 24.75 high it has to be deep... youre welcome, consider it ur new mod housewarming gift http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif
