doug118 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Share Posted July 9, 2009 ignore this. change of plans a friend of mine has a ford explorer with 4 15" jbl subs sealed with a crunch 1600 watt amp. he has a 140amp alt and 1 run of 0/1 to a 2nd battery. now everyone in my area thinks he has the loudest stereo around, which for what it is, it sounds pretty good. it has never been metered BUT, I made a little bet that I could get louder with 1 sub and 1 amp in a honda civic 2dr. my thoughts are to go with a 12" or 15" level 4xl and some sort of amp that puts out around 3000 watts and a VERY well designed box that will be ported through the rear deck. the electrical will most likely consist of 3 batteries and a 200amp alt and necessary wiring. does anyone think I could get louder with my plans? I want the 1 sub and 1 amp idea just for the "wow" factor just because people around my area think that you can't get loud with just 1 sub so I figured I'd try it. if not I could just get 2 12's and 1 amp, idk let me know what you guys think 2001 Tahoe. Any QUALITY 3k amp. (Sundown, Audiopipe, Crunch GP 3000D, DAT 2500.1 E.T.C.) Only thing he has on you is cone area, but that shouldn't be a problem if you follow the above. I've been trying to find out prices on the 9500 series subs but no one can tell me and DD won't respond to my emails which is why I said dc level 4xl. from what I've seen, it looks like I can get 2 4xl 12's for just a little more then 1 9512 and I was thinking about the dat2500.1. can't beat that amp for the price and did thorshammer do that on a burp of music? fold the seats down and add two 18's meade stilo. jk one sub vs 4 15's....... im pretty sure 4 15's are gonna get louder. with a gf and 2 dogs, there will be no wall going on any time soon and 4 cheap underpowered 15's in sealed boxes vs 1 12/15 on 3000wrms in a GOOD box, I feel like the single sub could come out on top 2001 Tahoe. I have seen explorers with 2) 15s do 155s in ported box. I've seen 152's on Music out of 2 15's in a daily box.It's going to be hard but if you make it a QUALITY build he will have some competition.
