To those of you with DDR3 ram and it uses Elipida IC's, watch out!

Recommended Posts

This is starting to sound like the whole DDR2 "D9" dying issue again. Why can't memory companies really stress test there shit before the consumers purchase it. Here read this: http://www.techpowerup.com/98934/OCZ_Techn...yper_DRAMs.html

***EDIT*** I'm wondering if these are the same IC's that some of the SSD's are using and if it will effect them as well later on down the road. I would be pissed the "F" off if I just paid 4-500$ for a badass 250GB SSD from OCZ only to find that its elipida memory IC's are going to fail to.

well, it sounds like they are willing to take care of their customers still though.

Id rather have a product available now and have a chance of failing (for most things... hard drives excluded) vs waiting an extra 2 years for them to stress test a bunch over an extended period of time....

This is why I only buy crucial memory

Subs are like titties, They need to come in pairs because ones and threes are just wrong, and larger amounts will always draw a crowd, we all have our favorite sizes, but the bigger ones are more fun to watch move. :D

Words to live by.

well I got news for you, crucial doesnt "ONLY" use micron IC's. There VERY cheap mem (as far as DDR2 goes, can use elpida too) DDR3 im sure will be the same way.

damn that sucks. i like ocz.

OCZ has nothing to do about this failure, OCZ is standing behind their customers to honor a claim if needed. OCZ, G.Skill, Muskin, etc... all use a form of elipida IC, so I can only imagine how big the failure rate will be 1 month from now.
