VistaV6 Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Getting ready to order my BTL, and wanted to make sure that this enclosure that I am going to make will work out good. It is a fully loaded 12" BTL. Box width: 25" Height: 15" Depth: 20" 3/4" MDF Port width: 2.75" Note: I am not really sure about ports so please info on this, but the RE enclosure calc told me with the dimensions I have this would come out to ~34 Hz 2nd port length 2.75" 2.87 Cu ft. box volume Internal port volume: 895 This will be the first box I have built, I have lots of MDF, wood glue, particle board screws, and clamps as I have been informed I will need these things. Still not sure about how to brace the corners, would putting a little 1 x 1 piece of wood in each corner help? or be necessary for 2-3k RMS to the sub? Torres Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 seems ok. but for 34 hz tuning this is what i came up with: 15" high 25" wide 20" deep port: 13.5" tall 2.75" wide 32" long this gives you 37.13 sq inches of port, 2.26 cubic net feet of volume, and tunes the box to 33.91 hz. it's a slot port, so the physical port length only needs to be 29.25" long with one bend. and as for the corners, people put 45's in them, but not so much for bracing. you'll want to brace the wide open spots of the box where you can to stiffen them up.

Torres Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 no lol. 32" long altogether. but with the bend, the physical port length only needs to be 29.25". first piece from front to back is 16.5" from the front. then the second piece is 12" long.
Boon Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 IMO 2.87 cubes is a bit big for that woofer on a lot of power. Unless you're giving it ~1.5k or less I would recommend a smaller box. 10.x volts fo' life!
