That's the same thing Jacob himself told me to do to set the gains for spl. Turn them up until the meter stops going up and then leave it there. Just ask Brandon he'll tell you how far you can push each piece of Sundown equiptment made. He had me playing my subs harder today then I ever do. I also know how to control a volume knob unlike a lot of people out there so setting the gain high isn't a problem at all when you don't drive around with the stereo full blast all the time. I rarely listen to full tilt ever. I might listen to it half way up once a week or twice at most.
