rmzsuzuki89 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 I was at a show this weekend and was gonna meet up with a friend up there. When I got there, my friend and his friend were working in the trunk of his car on his amps. I asked what was wrong and he said that his amps were clipping, so he was unstrapping them. Then he said that the Sundown amps perform better unstrapped. He had them strapped at one ohm, and unstrapped at .5 each and said they do better unstrapped...I'm not too sure on his electrical by the way. So my question is, is what I was told true? Thanks. Derrick824 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 I have never personally noticed a difference between strapped or not in my truck. Amps don't just automatically clip because they are strapped. Quote
Team Nemesis-DJ Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Mine are always strapped ....never a issue Quote

thehoe92 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 I've heard strapped amps have more distortion in the signal but in his instance unstrapped at .5ohm doesn't seem like much better. either way check the songs for clipping Quote Wouldnt be thehoe92 without teh purple
rmzsuzuki89 Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 Ya, I have a feeling something else was going, not because of the amps being strapped. Nightshade Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 I run unstrapped because I find that the amps actually make more power due to the impedence rise being split up between two sources instead of one. BigPimpin91 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I run unstrapped because I find that the amps actually make more power due to the impedence rise being split up between two sources instead of one. I found quite the opposite with my amp. I don't know why. Quote BigPimpin91's Banging Music
kingsuv Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I run unstrapped because I find that the amps actually make more power due to the impedence rise being split up between two sources instead of one. I have seen it both ways. I have also seen the bass to be a little sloppy and less power on music with the amps strapped, but louder on a burp Just from my experience. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
skittlesRgood Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 they are more efficient unstrapped. thats the only differance ive seen. mine are strapped though.
