well as i stated before, the lumina needs a bit of motor work... it runs fine but once it warms up it starts knocking... not really a huge deal but if i plan on going on road trips to shows, i need this thing in 100% tip top shape... i dont want to get stranded a couple hundred miles away from home at 3 in the morning... anyways i started to tear down the top end of the motor... i finally got to the lifters and pushrods, and i cant find anything wrong with them... they all look good... so im thinking that my main bearings are worn out... or the cam is worn down, and not pushing the lifters up all the way... so its possible that im looking at a full rebuild or a motor swap...

also while the motor is out... i will fab up a bracket to replace the ac pump with another alternator...

now some of you are thinking oh fuck... thats not good....

honestly its no big deal for me, ive done it all before... i just need to see if i can locate a donor car cheap, as a motor swap would be less hassle than a full rebuild... anyways here is a couple pics... before and after the taredown...

Nice. Yea gotta have it in top shape to be going on trips for sure. At least you've done it before and your moving pretty quick on it too. Good idea to fab up a bracket while its out. dual alt setup will be nice! it'll all be worth it good luck.

it took me a little bit of two evenings to rip the top end off... there is A LOT more there than there looks.... i believe in the haynes manual its like 31 steps just to get to where im at now...

im also thinking about doing a motor and transaxle swap to the 3.8 apv motor...

but anyways... i will proble start putting it back together tonight and start my hunt for another motor...

Yea when you tear down a motor there's def a lot more than there looks. putting a 3.8 in there would be bad ass get a gtp motor out of a gran prix! supercharged! your car would be a sleeper :). but yea i would try the 3.8 if it would fit. That's just me though.

Yo Rogers I didnt know you had mechanic skills.....sweet http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/dirol.gif

hell yeah bro. i was 8 years old when me and my dad started restoring that 69 torino thats hiding in my avitar..... we own 13 cars right now and i know all of them like the back of my hand inside and out... the last vehicle we completely restored was a 78 chevy 3/4 ton... we did a complete motor and body rebuild.... and i must say that the small block chevy is like the easiest thing to work on...
