what is his voltage like, he should be seeing more than 10k out of that amp

Don't take this as bashing but the SD amps are junk. He went through 7 8K's this year with nothing but problems and the 12K that he had had to be fixed 3 times. Once it blew just turning the fucking thing on. You could ask any of the NSPL competitors who were at finals we spent all of Saturday night at finals rebuilding his SD 12K. The amp just plain sucked and never did what it was supposed to. You interested in buying any Soundigital equiptment cause he's selling it all once he gets it back from Murilo from being fixed and running all Sundown equiptment.

Also looking for pics right now to show you.

Allright here is the only pic I could find of it online. I can probably get you a few more if he's willing to show the goods but with the window glare it's hard to tell what't in the truck. This was at the time of the Stetsom 7kd.

Yep thats not bashing :01nocomment8so: but I won't get any more into that in someone elses thread.

This sounds more like user issues with SD amps, how many other competitors have you heard of having issues of this nature with them.. It's a little ridiculous blowing 7 different amps and having all of them be manufacturer issues. What kind of electrical was he running on them??

1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... New setup, old ride... QX56 is staying stock til I get loud... It's only getting walled off if I don't meet my goal @ SBN.

Pioneer AVIC-N2

(12) 12" RE SXs old model.... (3) AB VFL 500.1 @ 1ohm each

Dual 300amp Ohio Gen alts.... (10) Northstar NSB-125s

26ft3 @ 33hz w/ a ton of port area

156.5 @ 40hz @ dash, Db Drag style / 153.2 Bassrace

I know of a few other Db Drag competitors that have had issues with them, one was a rep for SD and then stepped down after having problems. Electrical consists of 4 NSB 90's, an Optima Red Top under the hood, and a 250 amp Excessive Amperage alt. The alt is very questionable on output, but those amps should perform well enough off of battery power. They are run in many street cars in Db Drag where the voltage drops down into the low 9's on a burp with few problems.

It was to the point that he was getting used amps back after he sent his amps in instead of brand new ones like he was supposed to do. I'm not here to bash at all but I could go on for a while about the bs that happened all year.

4 gauge is very overkill...but the question isnt why...its why not

True, as long as ur not running a ton of subs like u said "why not"... With 24 12s on there way to my stable of subs, I'll be running 8ga to all the subs and even that got a lil pricey.

got a new belt on the alternator and that fixed it, at 14.4 volts not, still need to buy a stinger meter, but with the dmm on the front battery dropping to 13.9-14.0 full tilt and it jumps right back up, keepin my batteries nice and charged up too, resting at 12.9-13.0 :D
