Just got my Ap15001D. Going to be powering my Fi BTL. Looks decent. Installed it in my car for about 20 minutes then took it out because I'm going to rewire everything again. It's funny, AP says I should use a farad capacitor with the amp. BTW, I smelt something weird, a very distinct smell, one I've never smelled before. I think it's my voice coils :( Looks like a recone in the near future. Also, my lights dim a little now.

Yikes. I'd upgrade electrical before cranking it much more.

Or it could be excessive glue if its a new sub/recone (probably is) how strong was the smell? any somke?

Edit: was it warm to the touch?

Smelled like when you buy something new for the first time and it gets a little warm, which, the AP got warm in like 15 minutes. Rewired the sub to 1ohm, rewired the amp. No smells although I punctured the surround on my sub. Sad..
