Jared420 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Ok I know its a dumb question but i have to ask, Why is it that my system is very noticably louder and hits lower/cleaner with my windows completely down than with them closed. Its a very noticable difference and im sure this is the case with most people more often than not. The length of the wave can't crest inside the vehicle because it's probably tuned lower then your vehicle will allow for so when you open the windows it allows the wave to make it's peak and is noticeably louder to the ear. The same thing happens in Brandon's truck from Sundown. It used to be Assman's so you may know the truck. Anyway the box is tuned way too low for the wave to peak in the truck and only does like a 150 sealed, but if you open the door it lets the wave make it's peak and will do a 155. Like I said the problem is that the box is peaking too low and doesn't hit your ears with full potential. That's why blowthroughs usually work quite a bit better since you can tune them lower because of the further distance from the listening area. The same is true for an suv, hatchback, and trunk car. This holds especially true with walled vehicles.
