Jville140db
I know their was a topic about this some time back but no one gave a clear explanation of what to look for if you want a sub that will be louder than the next as far as specs go. I guess if you were to give two different subs in the proper boxes with proper power which would be louder based on specs how does one decide on the spec side of things what should me/we look for Edited September 2, 2009 by Jville140db Quote Car is 2010 Scion Tc Currently in car Deck- Sony XAV-60 in-dash mobile video system Speakers- Rockford Punch 6.5in comps in the front and coax in the rear Subs- 2 Gen 3 Rockford P3 12's dual 4 ohm Amps- Rockford P1000-1bd and P400-4 Alpine Mrp-f300 is in for P400-4 which is out to service Wiring- all rockford nuff said Enclosure- Dual 12in custom box by SRQ Battery- Optima Yellow top with big 3 done Sound Damping- All Dynamat products 1-2 layers throughout with liner on top Link to my build log- http://down4sound.co...=newpost&t=5275 Link to my youtube- http://www.youtube.c...ser/Jville140db MECP Advanced CEA # 110531 BassBox 6 Pro for Box Building/Re audio box calculator If you can hear the passenger it aint loud enough!!!!!!! fritosaregood
I like to see a sub with a higher bl rating, sensitivity plays a role, but you gotta know how they are rating 1W/1M is an easy way to compare, but some use 2.83 volts, that changes with ohm load, i was looking at a memphis mojo 15 quad 1 ohm sub, it had a sensitivity of over 100, it was tested with 2.83 volts at .25 ohms, thats 32 watts!!! more moving mass will get louder, but it also takes more motor force to push it, so they usually have a lower sensitivity, but a higher rms. theres more, but ive probably already said other stuff wrong, so i wont go much further Edited September 2, 2009 by fritosaregood Quote seller feedback: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=61719 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=68281 build log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showtopic=44800 Gf's build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/54346-kickergirls-camaro-new-box-pg-5/#entry753970

Rogers
i look at sensitivity, powerhandling, magnet weight, and i also like to judge a woofer by xmax.... obviously alot of stuff plays into it but the more the sub moves the more air it moves Quote http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79921-rogers-700-dream-car-update-page-17-a-wall/?p=2335774 93 Saturn SC2My system4 SA-15's Walled 2 Cerwin-Vega S2000's 3 Kinetik Hc2000's Dual 200amp alts. you guys done with the peepee touching contest or do I need to end it? Boon
As above, sensitivity, power handling and BL are 3 pretty good factors in how loud a sub will get... Quote 10.x volts fo' life!

andym85
powa is almost everything bl does tell u something about the strength of the motor, but that doesnt always correlate to power handling soft parts (clearly not a 'spec') play a huge roll in loudness...more spiders, bigger coils, different types of cones...all goes towards power handling but bl isnt everything...i mean if u have a sub with a fs of 26 and another with an fs of like 48 both with the same bl....the second could probably get louder (but that is speaking in terms of burps) i would say the q factors go more towards enclosure type. but impedence changes a lot of the specs....a lot of the q mesurements, bl, fs....all change a little as impedence changes... oh, rogers...u shouldnt look at magnetic weight...although weight and a higher bl are probably correlated...u need to look at the bl of a sub....i mean what if the magnet weighed 80lbs...but wasnt magnetized...lolz Edited September 2, 2009 by andym85 Quote i likes me some audio stuff...
