thegreat22
What gauge speaker wire I should get for my door speakers n tweets. Is 16 good enough?
kanes_disciple
I would read up on your speakers and read what size wire is recommended for them. Also what size speaker wire will your amp take? I would personally go with 12 gauge, but thats just me cause I run 8 gauge to my subs and 12 gauge to my mids and highs! CarAudioFab
I would say you must look into "AT LEAST" 12 gauge Quote -Mark Host of "CarAudioFabrication" - YouTube Car Audio Tutorial Channel Check out my forum section here on SMD for my builds and tutorial videos! evolution.vc
No way of saying. Need to know what brand and model your using to determine. I ran 8 guage on my mids. Edited September 9, 2009 by evolution.vc
Armoredhaulin
Depends a lot on the power and the length of the wires...typicaly for mids and highs 16awg would be ideal but I would avoid going smaller than that for runs over 15 feet or over 150 watts, but as always bigger is better! Neel
how much power will each run of wire see? 16 will work fine for most applications, 12 is what most of the guys use. Quote Too Much Stuff to list .
thegreat22
^^^^ well my current amp is a crunch 1400.4, but I would like to upgrade to 1800.
ISO
I agree with the guys about the 16 gauge and if you want to go bigger 14 gauge should work for almost any application for mids and tweets. I would say you should be fine up to 250 to 300 watts per channel with 14 gauge. Quote Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one.
