basshead4life
i have a coulpe subs that have tears in the surrounds. they're from a cat scratched them. i was wondering if caulking or silicone would fix them Team S.M.D. Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1 - American Bass 500.1 - 60 ft of 3/0 -480 Ah of battery - (2) stock alternators (70 +90) - Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. cc_audio
What subs? Pics? If they are a common surround woofer, it may be easier to replace the whole surround, and it looks better in the end. Pics would help. It's all gone! cc_audio
This is where I get my surrounds and dustcaps for typical smaller woofers, not bad pricing either for what you get as they include the CA glue and nube instructions. Surrounds Dustcaps EDIT: If you just wanna repair them as ugly as possible, I use rubberized CA glue. Spread the tear and lay down some glue, let the rip close, and then flip the sub and apply a nice layer to the backside of the rip. Never fails even on large subs, and Rubberized CA glue remains flexible. But your surrounds look cooked and dry rotted. I would say new surrounds or it'll prolly be a waste of time. It's all gone! Skullz
silicone rtv works wonders and bonds to every damn thing, just use small piece of saran wrap to flatten it out on each side and it'll look good. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
