Shyne151 Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 From November - End of January I'll be doing between 6-10 remote starts a day be ready for them A classic from last winter: Elderly gentleman came back about two weeks after getting a remote start(read DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS)*INSISTED* that I fucked up his brake lights in his Jeep Liberty... Well I check them out and sure enough every time I flip the parking lights on it's blowing a fuse. I asked him if he had any work done on the vehicle since he brought it in(since usually things like that just don't pop up, they are there from day one). As the day sat we were already going to be there till 9pm and I had no time to really dig into it, so I asked him to bring it back sometime next week and I would take care of it. Well next week he comes back raising hell with my manager, telling all the customers in the store we fucked his car up and won't fix it. Well sure enough the brake wire was seeing ground when I tested it. So I dig a little farther and pull out the rear tail lights... Ohh what is this I see hanging from it?? A plug in trailer harness. So I disconnected it and plugged the harness back onto the taillight assembly. What do you know? no problem with the fuse blowing. So I take the harness into our waiting room(about 10customers sitting in there) and he's still going off pointing his finger at me saying I messed up his brake lights and blew it off. I told him I had fixed the problem and then asked him when the harness I had in my hand had been installed and he said "ohh about two weeks ago but the dealership put that on"... what do you know that's about a week after the remote start was installed and the problems started. I took him out to the garage and showed him that everything worked fine. I pulled his car out of the bay and he walked back in the lobby. When I walked back in and gave him his keys his grandson that was with him asked "grandpa did they fix the problem?". He said yes and I have never saw someone's face turn so red in embarrassment in my life. Or set to voltage and it is seeing too low or high of a voltage after crank. That's not how the voltage sensing works... 12.7 is fine. But if it sees too much of a drop or raise while idling it will restart because it thinks the car is turning off. What kind of remote start is it? All directed units you start the vehicle and hold down the valet button... Try starting the car four times in a row... start it and let it run for a couple seconds... turn it off.. and repeat. That will teach the crank averaging I believe... can't recall haven't done an audiovox in awhile. If you can look up under the dash and figure out the model number I could help more. sphinxbccp Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 i need to see whats wrong with my starter it'll start the car but then the car will shut off after about 2-3 seconds after starting it sounds like you somehow reset your runtime, which is possible with some starters, if you look in the manual or look up the manual it should tell you how to set it OT- i work at a audio shop an noticed this too! not for a starter but recently a lady came to get a deck installed cause "her radio didnt work"... she pulled around an the installers went to work.... she didnt have one speaker in her car...
