OrionStang
This question has probably been asked somewhere, but here it goes. If the gain and bass boost is maxed out on an amp, the volume set at 75%, deck eq bass flat, and there is no audible distortion and niether the amp or subs heat up, can there still be clipping happening. This is how a friends ride is setup and he bangs hours at a time with no problems. Opinions? Sorry for the long question Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
lanman31337
Absolutely. Your ears aren't nearly as accurate as a scope or volt meter. may03LT
^^^+1 What about the sub output level on the deck?
Ray
if gain and basss boost are maxed it is clipping . Most people cant hear even heavy clipping. They can hear their subs crying, but that is wayyyyyyyyyy too far already. Grab a scope and check the wave. If its not clipping with deck flat at 75% with gains 100% and bass boost 100% Ill paypal you 25.00 Quote 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz

OrionStang
What will die first, amp or subs? Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Ray
Depends on hopw bad its clipping. U said it sounds ok, but could still be clipping just a little. Unless its a hard clip[, which would make the speakers sound bad..the amp should be ok. The speaker would be the first to fail, because of clipping. But if it's only a slight clip, it might take it forever. I would say that unless you have set the amp/deck up with a scope..prob, 95% of the population has a slight clip. Im good, but even I cant tell the very beginning of a clip. Can I hear it before most people?? Yes, but thats when it's already audible. A clip starts way before it is actually audible.
