This was the turning point in which the government started to become actively involved helping out the people, where as before they essentially were left alone. At this point and time, taxes were there, but were almost non existent. This started government assistance requiring more taxes, yada yada. Over time this has grown and grown, up to the point in Clintons era where "anyone should be able to buy whatever they want financing" And then it has gotten worse still. Personally I feel that in no way shape or form Obama deserved the prize. They nominated him in hope that his promises would come true and so if they did they would be able to award him. The nobel peace prize never should be bases on assumptions, only for things that have actually been done.
