Slapz Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Who has had experiance regarding cone area on here im talking going from 1 15 to 4 15s with the same power in the same car etc. Im reading mixed reviews on weather or not cone area makes a big diffrence or not some people swear by it yet others say it wont make much diffrence if any. im intresed to here your opinions on this to weather you where louder with more cone area etc. Reason i ask is i have been considering running shit loads of cone area with 5k rms so i can have an effciant system that can play all day long wont need a huge power supply etc but i dont want to spend loads of more cones if its not really worth it you dig?

Basshead08 Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Do youhave room to build an adequate box for 4 15's? Slapz Posted October 17, 2009 Author Report Posted October 17, 2009 I dont have a 15 at the monment it was just an example. say 2 15" btls and 6k in 8cft tune to 30hz vs 4 15" btls in 16 cft tuned to 30hz same power.... should it be louder or could it turn into a complete waste of money>
raytard Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 should be about 2.5 db louder a doubling of power, or a doubling of cone area (other things held constant, like box parameters related to sub, power, tuning, etc) is worth 2-3db key word is should. it may be 5db louder. it may move a shitton more air and let you pull some hairtricks. it may only gain a db. theres unfortunately no surefire way of knowing because theres so many damn variables in car audio. STREET PREACHER Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 i always prefer more cone area.....if i am working with enough space on the install.... :hairtrick: " WELCOME TO AMERICA!!" we speak english here.....
