well the low lights like 2k 4k 6k 8k and 10k are legal in most states but 12k and over are illegal in most states.

it all depends on your state laws. its not really about the prices its more the color that makes them legal and illigal most of it is rumor but if you want a definit answer, ask a local cop. i know biggboy sells them and he's around this forum. he's got some good prices and nice kits i've been running his for about a year now and i love um

R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up.

In almost every state higher then 10k is illegal for color temp.

Hids are almost Illegal used in oem headlamp assemblies. Unless your vehicle is currently equipped with the Projectors.

Regular halogen projectors are not meant for HID lights, but they will work better then a no projector at all. However sometimes the halogen projectors are not deep enough to allow clearance for the HID bulb that is almost twice as long.

Hid lights need a cut off line so they dont blind other drivers, and only allow light on the road. Tho, Ive seen many poorly adjusted halogen bulbs give off tons of hotspots (glare) from poorly alighned headlight assemblies, or people running a higher wattage bulb.

As long as you readjust your current headlight housings to keep your new HIDs aimed properly you wont really blind the other drivers.

With many of todays vehicles comming with HID lighting cops really dont know the difference, they are not really trained or educated on HID color temps to know which is illegal and which is not, nor do they know that Hids are meant to be used in Projector assemblies or regular assemblies that are made for the hid (like on a lot of Lincoln vehicles, and a few caddys Ive noticed too). However if cops see a different colored light other then a bright white or bluish color they may harass you. Ive seen people with yellow, purple, green, and deep blue colors get busted around my area already.

I Really personally wouldnt get higher then a 8k temp (color) personal. I got HID lights because I wanted the road to be more visible, not have some gay blue light bulb color so I can be like all the room a zoom zoom rice grinders. Lol

Ive ran 8k MTEC kits in the passed, and now Im running a FutureVision HID 6k set, I love the 6k way more then the 8k because its not as blue (looks more normal imo), and the 6k also produces more light output then the 8k.

Also, if you order from FutureVisionHID.com (that is on this site in the malefactor area) you get a 10% discount on your purchase I believe.

Ive ran this kit for about a year now with no problems. Very great resonable priced kit that outperforms my old MTEC kit that I had so many problems with!

Bruno at Futurevision is a great guy and will take care of all your lighting needs!!!

No, they are not rumors. LOL.

They are real laws, but as I said in my post, the average cop is not trained or educated enough to tell the difference in color temps, and illegal HID housings. However they are smart enough to pull you over for a non whitish blue color and bust you.

As I said too.. Lots of info in Brunos section here.

Its pretty simple, its illegal to have blue lights on the front of your vehicle out of Park. 6000k-8000k are you white with a little tint of blue color and 10 up starts to get blue to purple the higher you go. What most cops don't like is the fact that most people stick HID's in and don't aim them correctly. A lot of HID's come with spotty rays of light which means it doesn't matter which way you project them, they project in all random directions. If you have a nice simples set, 6000k-10000k and aim them correctly and get a reputable brand that isn't "spotty" then you should be fine. But like I said, anything that attracts a cops attention is what they'd give you a ticket for.

Personally in Central Florida, I have 15k in both my vehicles and they project pretty much blue with a little white. I have never been bothered with. Both my sets are the "$54 Hid kits" off ebay. They arent't spotty, both plug and play and work good. Only trouble you run into installing them is sometimes the stock wires don't carry enough power to the ballast, especially once you start your car, and you have to run a relay. A lot of times I bypass using the relay by using the power out of the running lights.
