trainman0978 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 I like..I like...I do paint and body as well......dude thats some fun right there. I worked in a body shop in high school. The painter I worked with was the typical crazy you find in sucha place in south georgia. He could seriously paint though. Anyhow, I never found wet sanding, priming, wet sanding, priming, wet sanding, painting, wet sanding, painting, wet sanding, painting, wet sanding then maybe buffing to be " fun" but the end result was always amazing. It so so strange to work with a painter painting his car and seeing all the extra effort they put into it versus a insurance job that is the daily routine. We did a black el camino , with I can't begin to guess how many layers of color before at least a half dozen layers of clear. the black - "absence of color" was smoother and more fluid than any vehicle I have ever seen. Even on a lambo that was in the local audio shop a while back... We spent months working on that camino off and on till he got it just right. The damn thing looked soaking wet long after the paint was dry and the final coat of polish applied. Painting a car is just not fun. but the process in none the less amazing when done properly.... Good luck Joe. If your paint skills are the same as your fab and building skills it should be sweet...!!! 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Voo Doo Blue my upgrades and "build" thread. I HATE body work with a passion..Can't wait to be done with this shit.. Looks like it's got a disease! But, I'm guessing it'll be close to perfect when you're done with it...looks good so far, who needs an antenna when you have an ipod You tired of sanding yet? First a few weeks on the door panels, now this! Exactly..close to perfect is all I'm asking for ..I have not listened to the radio in any of my cars in over 3 years... ....I'm over sanding...and so is my wife...hahahaha...I had her out there working with me yesterday. She made the wrong decision of telling me that she liked to sand...Betcha she wont make that mistake again I worked in a body shop in high school. I did a lot of abutobody during the summers and after school at my uncles shop when I was younger and I learned a lot from him...hopefully it turns out alright...lol. I still have a lot of sanding ahead of me. My deadline is to have it completely in paint, along with the cutting and buffing done by Southeast Showdown in SC on the 18th of July..wish me luck. Been out of town for most of the week(end), so I didn't get anything done except for this...Its the cover to my fuseblock under the hood. This should give you an idea of how the paint will look on the truck. This is the same color that my suspension parts are done in, plus the red pearl..It looks sweeeeeeeet in person...
