Ndnkobra
Hey guys, first off i wanted to make sure that my wiring was correct, and if its okay to wire them the way i did. i have 2 1ohm subs, so i connected my amp wires to the + left side and the - right side (or opposite) for both subs, with 8AWG speaker wire. i then did the same thing to connect the other terminals, - right to + left (or opposite, i cant remember which was on each side) so the amp is setup to a 1ohm load, except i used a 14AWG speaker wire to connect those terminals. As far as i know, i think i did the wiring right but i'm not sure if using different gauge speaker would be okay to do, and thats my main concern. Is it okay to keep the 14AWG wire, or should i replace them with 8AWG? Here's what it looks like through a diagram. Thanks for any help!

cqtama
no dont do that. use the same size wires on all coils. why would you do that anyway? 8 awg isnt that expensive R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up. audiofanaticz
As others said. Keep it all the same size! Depending on RMS power you are running, that 14gauge wire maybe to small for 1. For 2, the change in wire gauge may give you a massive impedance rise on that coil making your total ohm load higher all together resulting in even less power from your amplifier(s). abervintageman42
if ur not pushing the limits of 14 guage then why upgrade ? but id keep them all the same anyways. can you do two runs of 14's to each sub ? theres no point, a roll of 12 guage wire from radioshack is only like 3 dollars
Boon
Seriously, unless you're running like 4kw+ I don't think you would notice a difference. 10.x volts fo' life!
