I would go ahead and listen to everyone when they say take the amps out.

ever thought maybe the alt isnt fully chargin the batt that you constantly drain? I agree with everyone to upgrade the power wire, get the big 3 done, look at a bigger batt and a secondary even a ho alt. What I think is the batt your using has crap for reserve as well!!

I never said I wouldnt take the amps out and until the other day I didnt realize I had a problem. I am looking into getting a 0 gauge kit from Knuconceptz, but its xmas time and I cant spend $100 on myself right now because of my kids. I was just looking to get some advice about my problem, and I realize I need bigger power wire to get better results but when I dont got the extra money theres nothing I can do. I got the battery less than a year ago at Wal-Mart and its still under warranty, so I'm gonna take it back this weekend.

listen to everyone here. take your amps out, if you cant, just unplug the ground going to the amp and unplug the rca's (incase the amp tries to pull ground from the rca's) until you get everything settled out

and doing the big 3 wont cause more current to go through the amp power wire. whatever your amp needs, it will pull from the wire. if it pulls too much, the fuse will pop which will stop current

Well I no longer believe its my battery because I had it on low volume Sunday night and today and my mids/highs amp is going into protect mode. Now when I first start the blazer for the day the amps work just fine so I am thinking its my head unit! I am gonna pull my stuff out this weekend when I got the time and a nice warm place!

amps are also designed to go into protect when they dont see enough voltage to run...so dont rule out your battery.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I got a new battery the other day hoping that would fix my problem. Well I turned my stereo on and my sub amp was just barely lighting up so I opened my hood to check for corrosion and found that my fuse had melted so bad that one of the prongs split in two and that was my problem all along. Heres some pics of the fuse!

So as you can see I had to cut it out and I am now bassless cause I am gonna wait until I got the extra cash to buy this,

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-PK20 So this way I do it right and never have to replace my power wire again

I have an extra Kicker ANL Fuse Holder with a 150 amp fuse if you want it. It accepts 4 gauge and 0 gauge if you take the shims out.

I appreciate the offer but my wire is 6 gauge and about 3 feet of the wire is discolored that followed the fuse holder. I am gonna be adding another 1000 watt amp and two more 12's to my system in February and I will get that 0 gauge wiring kit for the extra amp that I am adding. Plus this gives me a reason to yank it all out so I can deaden my floor where the subs and amps sit.
