Nightshade
did you break in your 9515's? even dd has a disclaimer on there web site about breaking the sub in due to the suspension being so tight. so does aq. i have seen first hand what will happen to a brand new 9515 if you crank up 1700rms into it right out of the box. The guy had to pay for a new recone. and not every company breaks them in like sundown. Your right not every company does break in their subs. It is important and should be done if you want to prolong the life of your woofers. I've never personally done it with the Nightshades cause I already told you that they do it some, but also I don't blast on them full tilt except once in a while. So they have time to break in by themselves before I go to a comp and beat them like they stole something. Like I said hook them up free air and play a 20hz tone on them at about 1/4 to 1/3 of your listening volume. They will handle the power just fine and will loosen up quicker that way then driving around listening to music with them in a box. Just make sure you don't bottom out the sub. I'm sure those AQ's can handle as much as a NS so I think you'll be just fine doing that. Don't blame me though if you turn it up too much and bottom it out cause I warned you about it. loburbon
no i didnt and when they get reconed I wont then either. I buy my woofers to listen to them not baby them. granted Im not going to ride around slumping at 150 dbs plus all day. ok then, thats just another way of breaking them in. i dont let mine or my customers break in free air. but i do tell them not to go full tilt for a few days. you should now first hand that dd subs get loud without being full tilt. the only common factor in the way people break there subs in is they dont go full tilt. You not riding around full tilt all day long is basically breaking them in. Weither you agree or not, it's true. The guy had to pay for a new recone. and not every company breaks them in like sundown. I normally don't use a set break-in period or even break my subs in but I know one thing is I had to break in the DD1508 I got it was too stiff and wouldn't even move... but maybe a 1/4 max... So I told my dad to break it in to play it at 1/2 volume and to use my chopped and screwed songs...worked out pretty well. Nightshade
I bet you max that epic 160 out on a daily basis huh? You probably had an epic 150 and had to get rid of it cause it said max all the time I guess you are bout it then. Someone who rides around on a daily basis with a spl meter built into their dash is definately bout it Quote 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz

n8ball2013
honeslty the truck is completely emtpy right now. I bought it in june and havent had the time or energy to dig into it. I had the epic in the cavalier before that with 2 15s and 2 2500s and it would do 154 on the epic. I'm sure it had more in it but the electrical wasnt built to handle that stock alt ftl. It did manage to rip apart my box though. I have a feeling the epic is in trouble this time. This setup will be a touch bigger. Really? I'm surprised you actually know how stiff that is I've never actually pushed in on the cone of one of the 1508's, but have heard a setup with 4 of them that does a 148 legal in a Navigator with 2 Lanzar 1400d's. For an 8" woofer it is in a class of it's own.
