The moon moves away from the earth at a rate of approximately 1inch a year. This is due to the gravitational transference of energy from the earth to the moon. Ocean tides fluctuate which is what controls our weather ,not to mention all the other things ocean tides effect.

just because we couldnt measure adverse effects because we werent around then doesnt mean it was a paradise to live in

global warming is about how rapidly things are changing... which is faster than ever, when compared to the natural cycle of ice ages and warm periods

yes the earth regulates itself and has for billions of years, but that was before we introduced more C02 and destroyed alot of natural carbon sequestration.. roughly starting in 1850

the fastest recorded shift of atmospheric conditions is during magnetic shifts in the poles... every ~100, 000...the shift takes hundreds of years... usually 300-400 years... we have created similar results to those shifts in almost less than 100 years... far outside of the natural 100,000 life cycle of the polar shifts

which solidifies that changes are occuring faster than ever, period... and that is our proof

not to mention the effect of greenhouse gases is exponential not proportional... so the more there is the faster it will get worse

As if there was a need for more proof of the failure or our education system, see all the misinformation in this thread. I don't even know where to start.

Let me just say that climate change is a natural process that the Earth goes through.

The 2012/global warming comments earlier in this thread reminded me of something funny. Another car audio forum that I occasionally post on had an off topic thread that was just as crazy. The car audio guru that runs the site is always posting things that are polar opposite to my beliefs but this one takes the cake. This guy, let's just call him Pete W. something , was replying to a post about the tsunami this summer in American Samoa and actually blamed it on global warming. Now, this guy is VERY smart so I just thought he must have misread and though it was a typhoon.....nope, he claimed that the melting ice shelf caused the earthquake that led to the tsunami....and even provided a link to a web site backing him up. Unfuckingbelievable. It's this kind of pseudo-science that is fueling the green movement.

i believe in global warming because of the simple basic facts its built on, and Newtons laws of motion. Newton said as we all have heard before "Every Action Has An Equal And Oppisite Reaction" with this focus of mind you can apply your small facts and start to see a bigger picture. ex. cars have internal combustion engines that use gasoline for fuel, the reaction of the burning fuel is a force that pushes down on your piston an turns the crank etc etc. now the other reaction of the gasoline burning would be the output of Co2 (Carbon dioxide) and we have our catalytic convertors to help reduce the toxicity of the output but still it is toxic and still puts out Co2. now if you would like to expierience this fact you can park your car in a seald garage and let it run and feel the effects that those toxins are taken on your body...but dont say i told you to. anyway we know for a fact that the internal combustion engine that WE all have produces toxins mainly Co2.

Now what do we know about Co2. Co2 helps our earth very very much with plants,(photosynthesis) and plants in the ocean as well. Now the ocean absorbs alot of the Co2 that we produce like a big sponge and the Co2 is whats keeping the heat in (kinda like a greenhouse). Now heres the fun part where it really might set home with some of you fellas. Co2 solubilty gets weaker as temperature increases, so as the the water increases in temp it stops soakin up as much Co2 so eventually the ocean wont be our sponge/Co2 dumpster. now when the ocean reaches its "common heat" (when all the ice has melted)i guess you could say where its not going to get any hotter because no more Co2 can get in it... where do you think the Co2 is going to go. and the fun part of all this is that its going to be so fast and dramatic it probly wont take more then 100 years before the atmosphere reaches its "common heat" and it wont be the coral dieing off anymore and we wont have the help of the ice to slow its effects down enough to think of a way to save ourselves. maybe the temp of the universe will help us cool off...but i doubt it.

Quick edit to break it down even more. theres only like 3 facts im really working with here (engines produce Co2, our ocean an atmosphere trap Co2, and Co2 traps the heat) im just using facts to say what could happen or what is happening. Dont waste time by debating this if your not bringin the truth to the table.

^Untrue, the more co2 there is in the atmosphere, the lower effect it has on temperature.

And when the dinosaurs were alive, co2 levels were about 4 times higher than they are today. And guess what, The dinosaurs were fawking huge, along with the plants and everything else that lived then. co2 made life thrive, after all, life on earth is carbon based. shit, we could use more co2 in our atmosphere, we'd have healthier crops.

how is it narrow minded to think that the collective effect of everything we do accounts for some of the extra greenhouse gas emissions... i dont get it... if there werent factories there wouldnt be as much greenhouse gases... so obviously since there are factories, they will contribute to the grand scheme of things

Yep, humans activities account for less than 1 percent of all co2 in the atmopshere though.

Wait, dont us humans breath out co2? Man all the people that want to stop "global warming" should just kill themselves then since they are polluting the earth with every breath LOL.
