Gotta Get The Best Out Of 2 8's

Recommended Posts

I am building a box for a friend of mine and I need some help/advice. Well first they are 2 8" subs from a couple house speakers (he doesn't listen to a lot of rap).

They'll be powered by a Dual 2 channel bridge at 4ohms so he'll get about 150wrms. But I need to get the most I can out of these 8's.

The problem is it is going to be in a Chevy Ex cab but it's going under the seat so I only have 20" of width 9" of Height and 13" of depth. That is max guy's so I need help, I wanna give him the best output as possible so I was thinking a small circle port tuned to around 40-45hz?

Any advice appreciated,

Thanks guys. :bad:

2 8's? i dont know too much about box space with them but i would do 1.5cuft tuned to like 40hz.

So 40hz sounds good. Bad thing is I can only get a little less then 1 cube.

why dont u do a quarter wave that slides behind the drivers seat? does he have many people in his back seat? heres a vid of my kicker 8 in a quarter wave.

im taking out my passenger seat, battery is disconnected, going to unwire and take out the three amps, take out the 70+ lb box, then the platform so i can crimp 1 wire.

Almost as bad as those fegs that put those horns in their grills and roll down the street distorting the block....

Can't do it. He has way to many people sit back there.

first off you have 1 cube and 150rms, your nots going to be getting much sound out of 2 in that space and power, best bet is to run 1 and make the best box you can in that space which will suck too in the space you have total.

second they are house speakers they are probably full range 8s rather then dedicated subwoofers

couldn't you put a box under each seat?

- 60 ft of 3/0

car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. (if that confuses you then you get the point) lol
