Trying to fit a Double din into a 1.5 Din spot.

Recommended Posts

Its showing you a 1.5 din kit to cut out to put your double din radio in, but it wont work since the kit is still only 1.5 din kit with a 1 din radio and pocket.

You would need to find a 2 din kit to make what he is thinking work, which they dont make for the blazer since they dont have 2 din kits.

No, a 2003 blazer is the same body style, different style dash but both using a delco 1.5 din radio (the 2003 just has a theftlock style radio, and the 97 uses the old delco crap that came in literately every earlier gm).

You wont find no kit, you will have to cut up your dask.

Im guessing the room is there if this is like yours?

The 1.5 din radio openings are wider then double dins or single dins so thats not an issue, you will need to make filler panels to hid some holes.

Your going to have to cut into that pocket under your radio, if something is already there you may need to relocate it to another spot.

Making the hole is the easy thing, finding a proper way to mount it may get tricky. Im sure you could re-use the top hardware from the current stock radio to secure the top after a little playing. Just need to find a way for the bottom.

Obviously we have another MASTER INSTALLER that has no idea the difference between a "dash" and the "dash bezel" that goes around the dash.

So lets take a look into Doylerules photobucket account!!

Hmm, nothing looks cut here, these wavey straight lines come factory from gm!!

Moving on.

In this pic towards the top right, it just looks like the plastic in the way was just broke out.. Who cares about making a nice cut, no one will see it!!

whats he trying to achieve

That you dont have to cut the dash. But I guess my meaning of the dash is different then his. Since he calls the dash bezel the dash.... When the dash bezel is the blue colored thing that goes over the dash.

IMO the dash is the big thing that your instrument cluster, radio, heater, fuse box, glove box, air bags all get screwed to. Not some 2 pound flimsy blue beauty panel.

pulled the bezel just cut everything behind it to fit the double din then said that you didnt have to cut the dash at all.
