JBurt09
The idea of 4 15's is good if it's moving more air that you want. You will gain about 30% more cone area with 4 15s over 2 18s.I would suggest trying other things first though. As stated before I would try doing a different design with the box first and see how your setup takes to it.As N8 said, the port on the top has got to be killing you.At the same time, you said you would hate to rebuild the box and only gain 1 db.You have to understand that where you are probably at, the difference in gaining one db is going to become a lot harder than you realize. I would rebuild the box first. You have all the help you need on this site and could get plenty of help.See what your results are, and then go from there.Best of luck to you. mxman38
port near the roof is probably killing you. Subs pass side port driver side will be loudest but you're going to feel like you are sitting in the port all day. been there done that. is that a bad thing to sit in the port all day? or what do you mean... how is the port on top killing me? Im down with gaining 1 DB... But if im going to gain alot more by going the 4 15's route then i might as well. On the contrary, i could rip the face/port off the front of my box and stagger, and still keep around 200sq of port.
n8ball2013
no its not bad to sit in the port. Its going to be loud as fuck though lol. The port on top has never produced good numbers or results really. Its going to cause a lot of vibration and flexing of the roof since you are going to be loudest at the port opening. With it being that close to the rough it never seems to fair well. There maybe more involved answers but thats just what ive seen. I would rebuild stack the usbs and port the drivers side. Sampsonite
thats interesting.... i probably couldnt hair trick then.. loli might add i think doing a square port would yield a higher output as well... Here's a hairtrick (sorta) with port on the bottom. 2 $150 subs, and only 1000wrms It's all in the design mayne, This setup didn't even cost us $500 How much airspace are you working with? It doesn't look like much Quote --Sampson 816-591-6592 www.kcrimshop.com
CFAIST
I will have to agree with footlongsam. It's all in the set-up. I had 3 Soundstream SPL15's The OLD Stamped Steel basket version) in my Bronco II Off a Rubicon 1002 In the cargo area doing a 149.3 outlaw. that was with stock electrical and 4 4 gauge powering everything. I'd spend the money on a box rebuild. Quote C.A.R. mxman38
my dimensions are 36 tall 24 deep and 42 wide, so it would be a VERY tight fit to do port on drivers side. so actually i would only have 34.5" Tall and 40.5" wide as a faceplate, and thats with .75" wood as my side panels. tristan560
Here i had this same dilema last summer. Keep my two 18" btls...or sell them and pick up pick up 4 15" SSD's. I made the switch and i was amazed by how much louder, and the amount of air they mover compared to the btls. Same situation as youre in basically. mxman38
yeah the more i think if it AQ has a sale of 140 per woofer, it will work perfect with my amp seeing as i can only go 2 ohms, i could probably get 400 for my 18's, then come up with another 250 to fund the woofers.... I just need to find a way to get the build going.
