DD Motor Specifications Help

concerning the F motors, G motors, E Motors, and F and G baskets.

ive heard from a small few to "upgrade" to the F series hard parts and motor. when doing research on other forums though ive come across info that the G series has more effecient cooling, can yield a more pronounced tone than the F series for daily pounding, and that the G basket can allow for more throw.

whats the lowdown? DD's website has no info on their motors or anything this specific and google isnt turning anything up on this topic at all.

i know i would like the composite cone basket material and ditch the paper stuff, i dont have a choice on this build. but i need more info on the motors - i also know their website mentions 1500RMS on the G series motors but ive heard guys running them at 2500RMS without problems, and competition burps over 4500RMS if done correctly.

the setup pushing them will be 14.1-14.4V regulated from 5 bats, dual alts, big three, to a pair of Z1's (if i can find more info on them or dealers) or a pair of RF 2500's (non CP models).

okay i might understand what your saying here. The F and G series motors are alot different, but both are good platforms. The G basket does offer better cooling due the venting under the spider. If you wanna get a composite cone, be prepared to drop some serious cash, and unless you are burping them , you wont notice any difference. As far as i know they dont make the Z1 anymore, it was replaced by the Z1A a few years ago. There are alot of other amps out there that are equal or better quality for alot less money, but the same could said about the woofers. As far as your electrical, if you wanna run 2 5K+ amps on only 5 batts, well its just not enough, but its a start.

I am not trying to be negative, you are going after some nice equipment.

I know where some really nice 9510g's are with composite cone/cap etc.....

ill start from the beginning - i came down to either AA mayhem's or the 95 series. AA's could take more pounding and do it for much less cash, but i still like the way DD's sound. SQ is a bit of a concern here, and the system itself wont be used for competition.

i figured the Z1 was an old amplifier, but i didnt know what model predecessed it, as DD's website didnt have any info. i do know that the Z2 (and Z2A?) models are 16V+ series and designed more towards competition setups - which isnt what im going for with this build. i was looking at the older models to save cash and buy used.

the 2500's would be the same ordeal, buy used from the people selling theirs to upgrade now that the CP series is out.

ive found other manufacturers like stag and orion, but its hard getting info on these amplifiers to really compare before throwing money into the situation. im not after just the biggest and baddest, i just have large demands for this system and its coming off possibly as if im searching "biggest setup evar" in google. sometimes in forums its easy to be seen that way, especially with some of the material that floats around here.

i would like to say money is still a concern, but its more of a variable itself. once i build this system i would like to keep it to enjoy it and enough with the swapping and upgrading.

thanks for the info on the DD 95's, i may end up designing a G basket for the cooling aspects off of an F motor. ill call a DD dealer and see how realistic that is cost wise to just owning a regular G and see what the deal is with composite baskets. i take everyones word for it, but if there isnt a difference then i would find it hard to believe they even offer it? the gains just dont seem worth it for the price from what everyone has mentioned so far.

as for the batteries 5 large are about all i have to work with if i plan on keeping my back seat. i would possibly be able to squeeze 7 if i watch how i mount them using smaller sectioned buss bars and orientation of the post's themselves, but thats neither here nor there at this point. i know realisically with the box i have planned space is at a premium but anymore than 7 total just wont fit without getting the welder and grinding saw out and building trays

yeah typing error on my part im sorry - i didnt catch that. thanks for the correction. i plan on giving DD a call directly and getting the lowdown. i know an authorized DD dealer close to my town that i can order through.

it will be a while before i can bounce on this, all the extras like sound deadening, wiring, the alt brackets, all cable the ends, battery placement, the box itself, bus bar design, amplifier placement, port and speaker firing, etc still have to be taken care of once again.

im also trying to do it so it cant be stolen, so alot of bolts/cages are in the works.

i originally i had an inversion box planned for 4x12's, but ran into port design issues. that box design isnt used much in general anyway, and after i ran some more math i decided to scratch that design and go with an idea of running 2x15's instead. it comes out to a much better design for higher effeciency, lower excursion, and easier tuning. ill probably go with 30hz.
