orion hcca 10.4 and zapco 1100.1 dont sound right

for some reason i had the sub since new.. i broke it in correctly and everything.

my problem is for some reason it does not sound as loud as it did when i first hooked up..

the headunit is a alpine 9856. internal amp is turned off.. running only external amps..

sub is a orion hcca 10.4 dual 4 ohm sub. wired down to a 2 ohm load..

box is a store bought box that is made fom 5/8 mdf and is slot ported. its a normal ported 10'' box..

amp is a zapco reference 1100.1 2 ohm stable amp. 1100 watts rms

interiors are 2 kicker 3 way ks69 and a pair of 4'' kicker 2 ways on the dash.. ( no door speakers.. ) its a 87 delta 88.

interior amp is a rockford fosgate punch 600a4 4 channel amp.. rated at 900 watts rms..

wiring is all 4 gauge and fuse's are 100 amp and 50 amp..

it just seems like i had way more bass and louder sound when the sub was brand spankin new..

the gain on the amp is 3/4 the way up. there is a button on the amp that says 1x/10x . i leave it on 1x.. if i push it in and put it on 10x the sound does get 10 times louder and deeper but it will blow the inline fuse within a minute..

but i never had that button on 10x.. always on 1x..

so why does it sound like im loosing alot of sound.. is it just me..?

i am going to be making a bigger ported box built to specs for maximum output with my zapco 1100.1 but its just buggin me on the way it sounds.. as if almost my amp is only running in half power that it was..

what happens if you turn the gain down, then push the x10 switch. Adjust the gain slowly from there?

Did you use a dmm to set your gains? Also, 4 gauge seems a little small for 1500ish watts. (fuse as well.)

I had a hokey box laying around and decided to put two hcca 12.4's in it beat like hell one day maybe half as loud. Box broke chck it out take the sub out might be blown apart. :hairtrick:

i think i found my problem.. my alternator died.. maybe it was not charging the battery enough.

maybe the zapco 1100.1 and the fosgate 600a4 killed my 104 amp alternator..lol

i will be going to the junk yard and pulling a 140 amp cs144 alt that would fit my wifes car.. and i will be installing a optima battery with a bigger cutom made slot ported box.. hopeing to hear a nice difference..

what do yous think..?
