etaks_crew
I believe its one of those silent noises. I hear it all the time whenever a TV's on until the TV goes off. Even if its in another room I can hear it. Over time as we get older MOST NOT ALL of us won't even be able to hear it. That's why your parents don't hear it or know what your talking about. In some countries high end businesses will play these tones to keep school children out of there stop and from shop lifting. They have a tester for this that produces one of these tones, my buddy brought it to my psych class one day when we were discussing body changes over time.He played it in the middle of class. All the kids heard it but none of the older people or the teacher heard it.

slugdub
Found the actual answer, I think: the flyback transformer in your TV that causes the whine, right around the 20khz mark basically take the Hz of your TV and times it by the scan lines. 30x525 = 15750 Hz. Your PC monitors tend to run at much higher resolutions and frequencies. Although I can make myself sick just by turning my computer down to 60hz and 640x480. http://www.adhdnews.com/testforum/test11464.htm

Baydestrian
Yup, I hear it too, I can always tell when a tv turns on in my house One thing I hate is my old digital clock has a like buzzing sound to it and when I can't sleep I can clearly hear this high pitched noise which adds to the problem, first time I heard it I thought I was going crazy Quote 2015 Mazda 6 JVF Customz 4.0 Proto 15>Wolfram W4500 @ .5ohm 2 Sundown Neo 6.5 + 2 CT Meso Tweeters (Front) x Kicker KS6.5 (Rear)>JL Audio VX400/4i NSB-AMG35 (front) / 40ah Lithium Headway (Rear) built by Erni Audio & Electrical
