Slinky
If you want real surround (discrete channels) you have to use an optical audio cable or HDMI for your sound, period. If you're using the red/white RCA cables, you're only getting stereo (if you hear surround, it's being matrixed by your reciever w/ Pro Logic). If your receiver has a digital coaxial input, you can get an optical to coaxial converter and use that. And, Sanitarium, are you sure you're getting surround that way? Every TV I've ever heard of will only output 2 channel PCM from it's optical out unless it's outputting audio from an OTA antenna. Are you sure you're not outputting a stereo signal that your receiver is matrixing to surround? The correct way to set it up is to have the HDMI going from your ps3 to the TV, and have the optical cable going directly from the Ps3 to the receiver. this Quote DD M4 Rockford Fosgate P500-4 SoundQubed HDC415 w carbon fiber cap 2 Rockford Fosagate T1675-S XS Power D3400 Under Hood XS Power D5100 in rear Michael Singer 200A Alt Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/153901-2012-veloster-update-842013-wall-build-4-15s/

And that was my bad anyway I linked you to the 360 ones in stead of PS3 so I fail for not reading everything. http://www.ehow.com/how_4856569_connect-su...d-sound-ps.html Quote J&T DESIGNS M5 4 Audioque 15's copper coils dropping Audiopipe, and picking up DB DRIVE OKUR Powermasters XS POWER Dropping MaxxSonics Pioneer
raytard
im also in the crowd of hdmi to tv and optical to reciever if you already have speaks and stuff, you can just get a new reciever and save yourself some cash. Onkyo makes some really nice ~$200 dollar ones. optical is definately the way to go though, that or get a high end reciever that you can feed hdmi into and then hdmi out to tv yamaha has some sick ones but theyre some good cash Quote Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now) Team DC

white4d96
I just run HDMI from my XB360 to my TV then RCAs to my receiver. However, my receiver supports Pro-Logic II. What kind of receiver do you have? I know I had to fiddle with the settings on my receiver; it was originally set for stereo with a bridged center channel. I would try fiddling with your receiver a bit to see if that's your problem. Quote Too many projects, too little time...
