Gutta Trash
I am going to be running 3 12" and they are rated 1000-2000 watts (and able to handle a 3500 watt burp) but I was looking at the specs and they say "power range: 100-1,000 watts RMS (500 watts RMS per coil)" does that mean if I run 3 like this with a mono block at around 1800 watts I would be over powering them? tehbert0
if they are rated at 1k each and you're giving them 1800 watts total you will be underpowering them Quote http://motorcitydesignsaudio.com
Gutta Trash
if they are rated at 1k each and you're giving them 1800 watts total you will be underpowering them but they are 500 per vc what should I be running then for 3? tehbert0
if you wire them just like the diagram both coils will be hooked up so you'll be straigth Quote http://motorcitydesignsaudio.com
MrSkippyJ
but they are 500 per vc what should I be running then for 3? 500 x (6 vc) = 3k RMS. Your are fine with 1800 Edit: I should have said you are not overpowering them with 1800, sorry. IH8PunkRok
to accurately power you need 3k rms total so look for an amp around 34-3500 rms at 1 ohm just to be safe Quote -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
Gutta Trash
damn i am confused I was thinking if I was using a mono block amp each positive would be receiving the same power coming off of the amp (like 1800w) Quote On 4/20/2010 at 10:06 PM, 'cc_audio' said: Guys are just like girls, once you've had 18 inches you don't go back. 2004 GMC Yukon XL Pioneer AVH-X4700BS 13 band EQ Sub Amp- (2) PPI 5000BD.1 (2) Re SXX 15's 8 cu. ft. box tuned to 32 Hz (4) 6.5 Bose Mids (2) 1" Bose Tweets (2) 1.5" Bose Tweets (1) JY 80 AH w/ new JY busses (1) Duracell 750 up front Apex Alternators 270 A.C. raytard
right, 1800 watts comes out the positive terminal. it then trickles through the subs in equal proportion because of equal resistance, so each sub gets 600 watts of the original 1800 (1800/3=600), and then each coil sees half of that because again of equal resistance, so each coil is getting 300w cmon man, this is like gradeschool science Quote Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now) Team DC

raytard
for all we know, i'm the idiot for paying more attention to science classes than sports or beer :/ but for real, www.bcae1.com will answer almost any car audio question you have, so check that out sometime. has a lot of the science related stuff broken down and applied to car audio.
