wildcard4040
I do find it funny that people are buying "Sound damping" stuff at lowes and home depot, but if it works then why not. If it fugs up in hot weather then it will be a lesson learned..... i think i just gave myself a concussion i facepalmed so hard. and for the 1's that dont like me..... well, Im still here fuckers. Cant get rid of me that easy.
Soulman07
Butyl based sound dampeners are better. I've tried 5-6 different ones myself as well, I'd never cheap out on it again... An I've purchased it by the 200-300sq ft size, having to rip all of that shit out and replace it is NOT fun at ALL. There is a noticeable difference in the types that you purchase though. Even if it's cheaper to do 4-5 layers of this times you know... 2 layers of something of a higher grade. If you don't mind doing the work I guess it's your call. If I ever had a preference after trial an error.. I'd just buy the good stuff and do the work once instead of back tracking... 1993 Chevrolet SWB Pickup Viper 791XV Primer Stage 5/8 Static Drop Kinetik HC1800 Big 3 Knu Flex 0 Team Tex Flex
P4killer_
I have used this depot stuff in my trunk and its still holding strong. I did notice a huge reduction in trunk rattle. I also used expanding foam to fill the empty voids in the trunk lid. So I can't say for sure the depot stuff is super effective but it has definitely helped. It s also worth noting I never used the expensive stuff. I'm in college and always on a budget. kx519
I don't know what kind of jobs you people have, but mine doesn't allow me to spend close to a grand deadening my truck. I know everyone on the forum has done a budget build, if you say you haven't then you're full of shit. And from the sound of it, almost everyone has also used this stuff. And im sure people told you not to do it. But you did it anyways because you "don't have money for the expensive shit." So chill out, if it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. Lesson learned, 20 bucks lost. No big deal. Why does this forum get so negative sometimes? Inspire people, don't shut them down. Of course the name brand stuff works better but not much I bet, this is for cheap/quanity sound proofing. And by the way the hotter this stuff gets the more tacky it gets so I dont think it will come off anytime soon. As its made for roofs, which get very hot. Im going to get some more for my doors tommorow I took a vid of the sound test after but never did a before video . I totally forgot too. Here is a video of what it looks like/sounds like with 1 layer. Pounding on it with my fist is diff than waves of sound hitting it so dont take the loud noise to heart. It got rid of all that thin sheet metal banging noise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IccdmxBc5PM

Ive been installing systems for 10 years. Thanks for your thoughts oh my god ten years really? Youd think in that time you would have learned a thing or two about butyl based deadeners and asphalt based. I bet you use capacitors too huh?
