So I was wandering if I should bother hunting like crazy for more Monster, which I have been doing, or sell it all and get some Knu Fleks 1/0. Basically, should I hunt for another 100' of Monster 400, or say screw it and get 160' Knu Fleks? Boon Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Copper 0 gauge is ~0.3 ohms per kilometer. At 34% more resistance, CCA is going to be ~0.4 ohms per kilometer. Let's say the average run is 5 meters long. So a run of OFC will have a resistance of 0.0015 ohms and a run of CCA will be 0.002 ohms. Maximum sensible current through a run of 0 gauge is about 250A so we're talking about a difference, at the end of the day, of 0.125v at full tilt. I dare say people are losing more than that through dodgy terminations and crappy distro blocks... CCA vs OFC = wank EDIT: On the other hand, if you have that 'flux tube' Monster shit with the tube down the middle I would pull every inch of it out of the car, set it on fire, piss on it then mail it back to Monster. 10.x volts fo' life!
