what is the advantage to strapping 2 amps if you have 2 dvc 2ohm subs you can wire them both at 2ohm to 2 strapped amps but how is that better than wiring them individually at 1ohm to each amp

The issues comes down to phasing. With two woofers sharing one enclosure and having two different signals can sometimes give you one more power than the other if you don't balance the gains right. If that happens it can cancel out ultimately losing volume/output, even possilby damaging your woofers.

Strapping isn't an easy fix but, can definitely solve the phasing problem. However, normally strapping requires specific impedance from the woofers and depending on what amps you still may have to adjust the gains correctly.
