Bullying is now a crime in Massachusetts

Long story short, bullying in Massachusetts in now considered a criminal offense. This arose from an incident where a girl was bullied constantly by a group of nine kids for three months every day at school, over the internet, texting etc. And then committed suicide because of this.

Do you think it's the police and the court's responsibility to deal with the jack ass kids?

In my opinion, I think it's a little bit ridiculous. The schools should find alternative punishments to this problem. I mean bullying in general, not this incident.

These asshats deserve everything they get.

Agreed. I don't see why the government has to get involved. The schools should be able to handle their own shit.

I don't remember exactly. But I do feel that the group of kids who harassed her need to have an example made out of them because they went above and beyond to make her life hell. Not to mention the school administration knew of the bullying.

I feel differently about the subject.

These kids tortured this girl so much.

The day she passed she actually had a half full drink bottle flung at her head.

These kids are ALL gonna live with her death hanging on their consciences because they SEVERELY picked on the girl and basicly led the girl to kill herself. they may as well have handed her pills and told her to take them. They may as well have loaded a gun and handed it to her. They may as well have tied the noose for her. Do any of y'all remember being picked on as a kid? Now imagine the way kids are these DAYS. Imagine your son/daughter coming home one day and killing themselves. How would you want the kids who led your child to kill themselves dealt with?

theres a differnce between bullying and harasment and if shes getting bottles thrown at her that's border line assault. bullying shouldnt be illigal but she could have called the cops and had all the measages stopped and done something about it sooner.

If you you want to charge them for assault for any physical abuse that is awesome, however making bullying a crime is retarded. Her parents should of taught their kid how to deal with emotional, teachers should have handled the students and informed parents. All those texts/emails, you can block peoples phone numbers which would have eliminated that issue and the emails, worst case she could have created a new email account and just not given the people at her school her new address. Bullying should be squashed by the adults involved, but it should not be made illegal in its own rite.
