MECHMAN Posted April 10, 2010 Author Report Posted April 10, 2010 cant wait for final product, and how exactly do you mod amps? we got a hold of the the engineers at Kicker, and asked what needed to be done to remove the high voltage protection circuit. They said removing resistor R29 on the board would do the trick. It just took a careful eye, a small-tip soldering iron and a dental pick to remove the tiny surface mount resistor. Now we're good to go for 17 volts nominal input!! MECHMAN Posted April 10, 2010 Author Report Posted April 10, 2010 We still have a lot more smoothing to do, but hopefully we should have the lid on and the box mounted today. Here's the mockup of the sub. It barely clears the spare tire well by 1/2 and inch, and the rear of the surround clears the back of the hatch by about 2". Once I install the amps and batteries on either side of the box, there should be hardly any air space except for the "wedge" of airspace above the hatch. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
MECHMAN Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 progress so far has been a little slow, had to wrap up the bathroom remodel in my house, AND we broke and axle over the weekend, so know I have to deal with that. The next vids should be of the windshield flexing.... Basically we just have to swap out the alternator, finish covering the box with vinyl, and we will be ready to rock. We opted to go with two D1400 XS power 14 volt batteries instead of just one, they look more symmetrical and fit in perfect little pockets on either side of the box. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]

Feels like it will definitely break 150 db, so we will see. I'm replacing the broken axle right now so I can take it to the show next weekend. I'll post up some flexage vids tonight when I get home.
