Power wire for speaker wire

I was wondering if anyone has ever used Power wire for sub speaker wire? Ive been looking at a few build logs and I see lots of people using thick ass wire for subs, however Im not sure if its power wire or speaker wire. Thanx!

Oh yeah a ton of people use power wire for speakers, I usually run 8 gauge to my subs.

you can use power wire for speaker wire, i'm using knu 8 gauge power wire on my my lvl 4 15's. as long as it's soft copper and fits i don't see a problem.

theres a company that my local shop gets wire from thats acually 8guage speaker wire, one pos and one neg glued together, its made by mobile engineering or somethin like that, he sells it for $3ft but he useto sell some 10guage speaker wire for like $20 for 25ft n i still have some of it

if ur sub can take 8guage and is a dual voice coil sub ied use bolts to go threw the box and just tie the coils off that way, use 2 bolts per voice coil for pos n neg so u can do ur coil configs outside the box than tryin to take out teh subs just to hook a wire here n there n makes it look alot cleaner n it will cut down on the mess

i wonder if anyones ever ran 4guage from a 4guage to 8guage reducer to some subs?

haha, or better yet, for a multi sub setup do this, take some 1/0, put it in a 0guage to 4guage reducer, and then to a 4guage to 8guage reducer and plug it into the amps speaker outputs, and take the other end n do the same, 0guage to a dist block n then a bunch of 8guages from that

would look cool too lol

lol, i got to thinking about it, if they make reduicers then why not?

i might try it, always better wit bigger wire, steve has 4guage runnin to the btls in the hoopty but thats cause the t15k has 4guage speaker outputs n he didn't want to cut it short lol

i dont see why it wouldn't work, but i wanna kno how much of a diff it would be goin from 8guage speaker wire to 1/0 speaker wire? i mean get a cheap 0guage wireing kit n work off that lol, or a walmart schosh 4guage kit n do it up with some reduicers from darvex

im not sure if the reducers idea would work. i think it would only flow as much current as the 8 gauge reducer would allow. so the 1/0 would be overkill imo.

but definitely worth a shot. see if you can measure a difference somehow
