Shyne151
Here is the finished pics... I have about 50-60 of the build to post later... but here is the finished product. Two week project. There is a little bit of a back story behind it. Another local shop started it... kept it for like a month and then decided they couldn't fit the subwoofer in the tailgate and bunch of other shit. Kept half of his money and sent him on his way. He came to us to have it done after... we actually got rushed and had to put the whole car back together in a day paint guy took longer than expected. So it will be back to get tuned in better and a couple little touch ups. Myself and another installer did it. I did the tailgate and dash kit... other installer did door panels. We both did the amp rack and overhead. Shyne151
Slow at work today... might as well add some build up pics. Equipment that went in: All Rockford wiring Boston Pro 60 components x2 JL HD600/4 JL HD750/1 JL TW5 Flo TV Audiovox PS2 overhead Back garage nice and clean before we started... haha This was how the dash piece looked when the vehicle arrived... There was finger prints in the paint, the top and bottom lines were crooked as all hell and they didn't soak their matte enough with resin becuse it had absorbed up the paint and primer they used. I cut out the top and bottom and put in piece of ABS to straighten out the lines. I then fixed some of the waviniess with some filler and did a coat of resin to soak into the matte. Test fitting, and I had to clean up that cluster fuck of wires also... After result, I think mine looks a little better than before: Quote -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune. Shyne151
The door build up. The shop that started the job had put a Rockford Punch 400.4 under the front passenger seat and hooked it upto the stock midbass... no tweeters... I'm sure you can imagine how asstastic that sounded. Not to mention the amp was mounted with velcro under the seat... Before cutting: Laying some glass onto the door... first panel he didn't tape lol... it all came off surprisingly: Quote -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune. Shyne151
The front doors had the midbass recessed into the door... he mounted the ring behind the door then wrapped a piece of plastic we had from an old display to fill in the gaps... and glassed over it. The after result: Roughed in with some duraglass before going to the paint shop: The door panels mounted up: Quote -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune. Shyne151
The box... when I got the vehicle they had already started cutting out the rear tailgate so that was where the sub HAD TO GO. The other shop also told him they weren't going to be able to fit it... I made it work. Box ended up being around .7ft^3... added a little polyfill. How I got it: After I did some more cutting and relocated the factory actuator for the tailgate, added dynatmat, and started forming my edges with masking tape: Everything taped out and matte spray glued down(I find it easier sometimes so it doesn't move while putting on the resin): I traced out the trim piece that used to be over the tailgate onto some mdf and cut out some rings with my jasper jig: Quote -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune.
